Cattleya Spring Release | 2020 Vintage

As we welcome the year 2022, we are excited to release our new wines from Cattleya and its sister label: Alma de Cattleya.

2022 will be a year of great significance for us, with the upcoming fall release of our 10th anniversary vintage, as well as the unfortunate absence of our 2020 vintage for Cattleya Pinot Noir and Syrah. It is not unknown to our wine loving followers that California experienced devastating fires in 2020, much earlier in the growing season than ever before. Due to these unforeseen circumstances, we made the difficult decision to forgo the harvest of all varietals that comprise our single vineyard, terroir driven red wines.

However, life knows how to bring about beauty amongst the most difficult challenges. The Chardonnay grapes for the 2020 vintage were beautifully matured and in turn, gifted us with the great juice needed to make spectacular wines. With this release, we welcome again our Cuvée Number Five Chardonnay.

This wine was born from a high elevation site, with its meticulously farmed rows resting at 900 feet of elevation and above in the pristine Sonoma Coast AVA. As I continue to work with this fruit, I find myself enjoying more and more the texture this vineyard brings to Chardonnay wines, while still preserving beautiful and vibrant acidity.

2020 Cuvee Number Five Chardonnay Jeb Dunnuck 95 Points

Since we are not releasing our Cattleya Cuvée Number One to you, we want to invite you to experience our 2019 Alma de Cattleya Pinot Noir, which we still have available in limited quantities. It is a great honor to announce that this wine was among the Top 100 Wines of 2021 by Jeb Dunnuck and it’s a delight to enjoy and drink. An incredible example of Sonoma County Pinot Noir, this wine presents the tannins, acidity and texture with all the luscious red fruit and great intensity that make a perfect red wine for any season.

Finally, we are proud to release a very special rosé of Pinot Noir. A showcase of old school winemaking techniques of aging wines in neutral French oak barrels and treating the grapes with the utmost respect. It is safe to say that this is a wine that will always have you reaching for another glass (or bottle!).
